Vagir, the fifth submarine of the Kalwari series, has finally been inducted into the Navy. With the ability to carry out multiple operations simultaneously, the Vagir submarine has increased the maritime strength of the country manifold
As China increases its dominance in the Indian Ocean, it is necessary for our country to have a strong maritime power. Our country's army has become tremendously powerful on land, air, sea and cyber. Depending on who and what your enemy is like, you have to prepare to defend and attack if necessary. Land, sky and sea are the areas where you have to build a shield to protect the country. Our country is becoming capable on these three fronts. Now a new front has also opened and that is, cyber. Future wars will be fought in cyber and space. Every country in the world is building a cyber army. In today's hi-tech era, one has to be vigilant to protect the satellites in space and the computer network of the country. The biggest tension we have is from China and Pakistan. These two neighbors of ours are scoundrels. Defense experts say that the next war India will not have to fight with China alone or only with Pakistan, it will have to be fought with both. China and Pakistan have become so close that they will do everything together. Our country knows this very well and that is why it is constantly increasing its military strength. Amid all this, one more submarine warship has been added to the country's navy. As China expands its dominance in the Indian Ocean, the Vagir submarine has the capability to provide maritime security to the country. Project-75 was undertaken in the year 1997 to make the Navy of the country competent. It was decided to procure and build 25 submarines under this project. In 1998, a deal was made with the French company DCNS to purchase four Scorpion submarines. After this it was decided to build submarines in the country under Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat Yojana. Submarines are manufactured at Mazgaon Dock Ship Yard in Mumbai. Vagir submarine is also built there. The submarine was handed over to the Navy on 12 November 2020. The Navy has made the necessary arrangements and started the sea trial from 1 February 2022. On 23rd January, the army included Vagir in its camp. This fourth Vagir submarine of the Kalwari series is known as a 'state of art' submarine. This submarine has the ability to carry out multiple operations simultaneously. From anti-surface, anti-submarine, reconnaissance missions to laying mines in the sea, these submarines can also do this work. The Navy also calls it the Sand Shark, because this submarine has the power to attack the enemy undetected. This submarine is also known as silent killer. The history of Vagir is very old. The Indian Navy commissioned the first Vagir submarine on 1 November 1973. This submarine handled the sea front for two decades. Dated 7th January 2001 Vagir was retired. In November 2020, it was decided to bring Vagir in a new, modern and very powerful avatar. Vagir submarine is the shortest submarine ever built. Earlier, IAS Kalwari was commissioned in 2017, INS Khanderi in 2019, INS Karanj in 2021 and INS Vela submarine in the same year i.e. 2021. Three submarines have been inducted into the army in the last two years alone. A sixth submarine of the Kalwari series is also to be built. Vagir submarines can glide at a speed of 40 km in the sea. 50 jawans can work in it simultaneously. The 221 feet long and 21 meters high Vagir submarine is armed with 16 torpedoes and mines. Tensions between India and China have been on the rise for the past two and a half years. On 15th June 2020, the relations between the two countries became strained after a violent clash took place between the soldiers of the two countries in the Galwan valley on the Ladakh border. China still does not give up its mischief and its movements on the border continue unabated. Our country has also decided to reply to China in its own language. On the border, our army has adopted a mirror strategy and deployed as many troops and weapons as the Chinese troops and weapons are on the border. Our Air Force has also been equipped. The arrival of Vagir submarines has also increased maritime capability. China invades the Indian Ocean. China leaves no stone unturned in spying on India. To keep an eye on India, China had taken possession of Sri Lanka's Hambantota port. Last year, Chinese spy ship Yuan Wang-5 was anchored at Sri Lanka's Hambantota port. The sea near Sri Lanka is very important for India, as Tamil Nadu is only fifty kilometers from there.
In order to ensure that the country's army is not weakened against the enemy, the state-of-the-art warship Vikrant, built in the country at a cost of twenty thousand crores, was floated in the sea in September, 2022. This warship with a capacity of 30 fighter jets and helicopters was noticed by the whole world. The biggest thing about our country is that now our country is making weapons and other weapons for war in the country itself. There was a time when our country had to depend on other countries for everything from the smallest items for the army to weapons including naval ships, fighters, tanks. After the independence of the country, the arms of our army were imported from Russia.
