This year, when tourists visiting Rashtrapati Bhavan's famous 'Mughal Garden' start arriving there from January 31, they will not see the name anywhere. It was informed on Saturday that all the gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan have been renamed as 'Amrit Udyan' and the board of 'Mughal Garden' has also been removed from there. A Rashtrapati Bhavan press release said that President Draupadi Murmu will be present at 'Amrit Udyan' on the occasion of Udyan Utsav 2023 from Sunday. The park will be opened to the public from January 31 to March 26. Deputy Press Secretary to the President Navika Gupta said that all the gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan will now be called 'Amrit Udyan'. Many cities, roads and stations have been renamed since Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government came to power at the Center in 2014. Politics has also been going on regarding this. Now that Rashtrapati Bhavan's 'Mughal Garden' has been renamed, the 'Rajpath' emanating from it was renamed last year. The Modi government had changed the name of 'Rajpath' from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan to 'Kartavyapath' in 2022. First it was named 'King's Way' after George V, after independence it was renamed as 'Rajpath'. Earlier in August 2015, Delhi Municipal Council renamed 'Aurangzeb Road' as 'APJ Abdul Kalam Road'. However, there were demands at various levels to name this road after Sardar Patel. There is a demand to change the name of Aurangabad in Maharashtra where Aurangzeb died and his tomb is also there. It is claimed that Aurangabad was also named after Aurangzeb. The Shiv Sena has been demanding the renaming of Aurangabad to 'Sambhajinagar' since the eighties and last year, in a last-ditch effort to save its government, then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's cabinet issued an order to change the name in June 2022. But as soon as the BJP coalition government came to power, it ordered to change its name again. This time he changed the name of Aurangabad and Osmanabad to 'Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar' and 'Dharashiv'. Some analysts believe that the 'polarizing intent' behind the name change cannot be ruled out. In October 2018, BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered the famous city 'Allahabad' to be renamed 'Prayagraj'. Soon after, the then Chief Minister of BJP-ruled Himachal Pradesh, Jairam Thakur, demanded that the state capital Shimla be renamed 'Shyamala', which caused a huge uproar at the time. Before going to the polls, the BJP is showing some lack of confidence and wants to polarize religiously. The BJP wants such controversies to arise so that the debate is limited to Hindu-Muslim and diverts attention from current burning issues - like unemployment, inflation or law and order....
